Ferro silicon
Ferro Silicon (FeSi) is an essential ferroalloy composed of iron (Fe) and silicon (Si), used primarily as a deoxidizer, alloying element, and inoculant in steel and cast iron production. It enhances strength, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance in various steel grades.
Chemical Composition:
✅ Silicon (Si): 65-75% (Common grades: 65%, 70%, 72%, 75%)
✅ Iron (Fe): Balance
✅ Carbon (C): ≤ 0.1%
✅ Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.02%
✅ Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.03%
✅ Aluminum (Al): ≤ 1.5% (Varies by grade)
Key Features:
✅ Powerful Deoxidizer: Removes oxygen from molten steel, preventing defects.
✅ Enhances Strength & Hardness: Improves mechanical properties in steel and cast iron.
✅ Promotes Graphite Formation: Used in foundries to improve cast iron quality.
✅ Available in Various Sizes: Supplied in lumps, granules, or powder form.
Applications:
✅ Steel Production: Acts as a deoxidizing agent in steelmaking.
✅ Cast Iron & Foundries: Improves machinability, wear resistance, and strength.
✅ Electrode Manufacturing: Used in welding electrodes for enhanced performance.
✅ Magnesium Ferrosilicon Alloys: Used in the production of ductile iron.
