Inconel 825

Inconel 825 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic environments. It contains nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), molybdenum (Mo), and copper (Cu), providing it with exceptional resistance to oxidizing and reducing environments. Inconel 825 is widely used in industries that require high strength and durability in both high-temperature and chemically aggressive environments.

Chemical Composition (Typical Range):

  • Key Features:

  • ✅ Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and other acidic environments.
  • ✅ Resistance to Oxidation: Performs well in oxidizing environments, including high-temperature conditions (up to 815°C / 1,500°F).
  • ✅ Good Strength: Retains high mechanical strength at both ambient and elevated temperatures, making it ideal for structural applications.
  • ✅ Versatile: Effective in a range of aggressive conditions, including both oxidizing and reducing environments.
  • ✅ Good Weldability: Known for easy weldability without significant concerns of cracking or degradation of material properties.
  • ✅ Non-Magnetic: Typically non-magnetic, even in high-stress applications.

  • Applications:

  • ✅ Chemical Processing Industry: Often used in chemical reactors, heat exchangers, piping, and tanks that come into contact with sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and other corrosive agents.
  • ✅ Aerospace Industry: Used in aircraft components that require both heat resistance and corrosion resistance.
  • ✅ Marine & Offshore: Ideal for marine exhaust systems, subsea equipment, and other components exposed to saltwater.
  • ✅ Nuclear Power Plants: Found in nuclear reactors and related equipment due to its resistance to radiation-induced corrosion.
  • ✅ Power Generation: Suitable for gas turbines, boiler tubes, and heat exchangers operating in high-temperature environments.
  • ✅ Pharmaceutical & Food Processing: Used in equipment exposed to aggressive cleaning agents and environments requiring hygienic properties.
