Stainless steel 304
Stainless Steel Scrap 304 is one of the most widely used
austenitic stainless steels that contains chromium (Cr), nickel
(Ni), and a small amount of carbon (C). It is known for its
outstanding corrosion resistance, excellent formability, and
weldability, making it ideal for various applications in
industries like food processing, construction, automotive, and
household appliances.
Chemical Composition (Typical Range):
✅ Chromium (Cr): 18.0% – 20.0%
✅ Nickel (Ni): 8.0% – 10.5%
✅ Manganese (Mn): 2.0% – 2.5%
✅ Silicon (Si): ≤ 1.0%
✅ Carbon (C): ≤ 0.08%
✅ Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.03%
✅ Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.045%
✅ Iron (Fe): Balance
Key Features:
✅ Superior Corrosion Resistance: Excellent in a wide range of
environmental conditions, including food and beverage
industries and marine environments.
✅ High Strength & Durability: Maintains strength at elevated
temperatures and resists oxidation.
✅ Good Weldability & Formability: Ideal for complex
fabrication processes.
✅ Non-Magnetic: Typically non-magnetic, though may become
slightly magnetic when cold worked.
✅ Ease of Cleaning: Popular in environments where hygiene is
critical, such as in food and medical equipment.
Applications:
✅ Food & Beverage Industry: Used for manufacturing processing
equipment, storage tanks, and pipes.
✅ Architectural & Construction Industry: Common in roofing,
siding, handrails, and structural elements.
✅ Automotive Industry: Utilized in exhaust systems, trim
pieces, and chassis components.
✅ Medical & Pharmaceutical Equipment: Widely used in surgical
instruments, medical implants, and medical devices.
✅ Kitchenware & Appliances: Found in cookware, sinks,
dishwashers, and refrigerators.
✅ Chemical & Petrochemical Industries: Used in reaction
vessels, heat exchangers, and piping.
