Stainless steel 430

Stainless Steel Scrap 430 is a ferritic stainless steel scrap composed primarily of iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), and very low carbon (C). It is known for its magnetic properties, corrosion resistance, and ease of fabrication. This scrap is commonly used in recycling and producing lower-cost stainless steel products.

Chemical Composition (Typical Range):

  • ✅ Chromium (Cr): 16% – 18%
  • ✅ Carbon (C): ≤ 0.12%
  • ✅ Manganese (Mn): ≤ 1.0%
  • ✅ Silicon (Si): ≤ 1.0%
  • ✅ Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.03%
  • ✅ Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.04%
  • ✅ Nickel (Ni): ≤ 0.75%
  • ✅ Iron ( Fe): Balance

  • Key Features:

  • ✅ Good Corrosion Resistance: Suitable for moderately corrosive environments like household appliances and kitchenware.
  • ✅ Magnetic Properties: As a ferritic stainless steel, 430 stainless steel is magnetic, which is useful in some applications requiring magnetic properties.
  • ✅ Cost-Effective Alternative: Compared to austenitic stainless steels (like 304), 430 is more affordable.
  • ✅ Easy Fabrication: Can be easily formed and welded, making it ideal for production processes.
  • ✅ Heat & Oxidation Resistance: Offers good resistance in mildly high-temperature environments.

  • Applications:

  • ✅ Kitchenware & Appliances: Widely used for sinks, dishwashers, ovens, and cookware.
  • ✅ Automotive Industry: Used in exhaust systems and other automotive parts.
  • ✅ Architectural Applications: Common in roofing, siding, and decorative panels.
  • ✅ Industrial Equipment: Suitable for heat exchangers, storage tanks, and pressure vessels.
  • ✅ Food Processing Industry: Often found in processing equipment due to its corrosion resistance and ease of cleaning.
